    Kieran’s gift of life: Posthumous honour for teenager

    Seven lives have been transformed after the family of a teenager who dreamed of being a superhero allowed his organs to be donated. The family of Kieran Lacey, 14, received the Order of St John United Kingdom Award for Organ Donation, on his behalf at a ceremony at County Hall, West Bridgford. The award recognises his contribution of giving hope to others through organ donation. Kieran’s grandfather, Mr Denis Synnott, of South Muskham, was presented with a pin badge and certificate signed by Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, the Grand Prior of the Order. “What Kieran has done is utterly brilliant,” said Mr Synnott. “He wanted to be a superhero like Superman. What he did was be Superman. He has made such a difference to so many people.” Kieran died last year after suffering a cardiac arrest and collapsing at his home in Newark. He
